DoodleLearning's Approach

As an education company founded by two teachers, we take accessibility extremely seriously. We continually strive to make our product accessible to all users.

We are able to do this through the adaptive nature of our learning applications : our proprietary algorithms continually adjust each individual child’s work program to their ability level, ensuring that questions are not too difficult – or too easy – for each child.

Beyond this, we have built a number of features to improve accessibility. These include:

  • Question screens and help screens that are purposefully designed to be clean and free of movement, clutter or excessive color

  • Font sizes that adjust automatically to always display at maximum size

  • Text-to-speech technology – we use the latest technology to ensure questions and explanations can be read aloud in a natural-sounding voice

  • Colored overlays that can be chosen for question screens which help some visually impaired children, or those with dyslexia, or Irlen syndrome, for example.

Whilst we have made some good progress to make our product more accessible, we also recognise that this is a continual journey and we have some way to go.

As of December 2022, we are currently ensuring that the remainder of our response box answers can be read aloud and we are also looking at ways to adjust the read-aloud speed.
