How to set goals for your child and see if they're on target to achieve them

Updated over a week ago

This feature is only available with a family subscription.

Doodle's clever technology will create each child a target number of stars to earn each week. This target is designed to keep children on track in their learning.

Doodle will also recommend personalized goals for your child (such as 'complete all Grade 5 objectives'), which you can set for your child in the Families Dashboard.

How to view your child's target

Your child can view their weekly star target by logging into any Doodle program and clicking on the colourful gauge icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.

  • The child's weekly star target can be seen at the top of the gauge - for the account above, this is 50 stars per week

  • The green zone indicates that a child has earned enough stars to achieve their target for the week

  • The orange zone indicates a child is nearly on track to achieve their target

  • The red zone indicates that a child isn’t on track to achieve their weekly target

If a custom goal hasn't been set, the target number of stars will be between 35 and 60 per week, depending on your child's age and ability.

If a custom goal has been set, the target number of stars will differ according to what is required to achieve the goal.

You can also see if your child is on track to reach their goal by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the Families Dashboard

  2. Hover over Analyze and select Progress

  3. Adjust the time scale accordingly

How to set your child a goal

Setting a goal is a great way to support your child if they need a little more support in their learning, or to provide an extra challenge!

To set a goal:

  1. Log in to the Families Dashboard

  2. Hover over Analyze and select Progress

  3. Select Set a new goal

  4. Choose an end date

  5. Choose a goal from the list of those recommended and press Save. We recommend goals which are are challenging but achievable!

You can revisit the Progress page at any time to view your child's progress towards their goal.

Please note: The target number of stars is shared with your child, but goals (such as 'complete all end of Grade 3 objectives') are not, as they might not always be appropriate.
